Murtadha Al Hashmi holds the position as the Chief Financial Officer of the International Petroleum Investment Company (IPIC), leading the company’s Financial and Strategy functions.
Mr Al Hashmi also holds a number of Senior Board positions in the UAE: he is a member of the Board of Directors at the Audit Committee of Aabar Investments PJS, as well as its Investment and Financial Committee. In addition, he is the Chairman of the Audit Committee, a member of the Supervisory Board and a member of the Remuneration Committee at Borealis AG, whilst also holding the role of Chairman of the Board at Falcon Private Bank Ltd. At OMV AG, Mr Al Hashmi acts as the Vice Chairman of the Supervisory Board, and a number of other committees like the Audit Committee, the Compensation and Remuneration Committee, the presidential and nomination committee and the Project Committee. Along with this, he is also a board member at Banvit AS.
Prior to joining IPIC in 1993 as a Director of Finance and Accounts, Mr Al Hashmi worked in the Finance Control Department at the National Bank of Abu Dhabi.
He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from the United Arab Emirates University.
Khalifa Al Romaithi is the Director of Downstream and Diversified Investments at the International Petroleum Investment Company (IPIC).
With over 12 years of experience in both the energy industry and private equity sector, Mr Al Romaithi started his career at IPIC in 2003. Since then he has held various positions, such as Deputy Director of the Investment Department, Head of Portfolio Management and Head of Diversified Investments.
Mr Al Romaithi plays an integral role across several portfolio companies by sitting as a board and investment committee member at Aabar Investments, Nova Chemicals Corporation, Falah Growth Fund Limited, Qatar and Abu Dhabi Investment Company and COSMO Energy Holdings Company Limited. He is additionally a board member at Arabtec Holding, Depa United Group and the Abu Dhabi National Takaful Co. He was also Chairman of the Board of Gulf Energy Maritime (GEM) for three years.
He holds a Bachelor degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance from the University of Portland.
Alyazia Al Kuwaiti is the Director of Midstream and Upstream Investment at IPIC. With over 10 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, Ms Al Kuwaiti joined IPIC in 2007, as Manager of Evaluation and Execution. Previously, she worked at Abu Dhabi Gas Industries Ltd. (GASCO) since 2003.
In addition to her experience and in-depth knowledge of the industry, Ms Al Kuwaiti holds board positions at the Gulf Energy Maritime-GEM, and the Spanish multinational oil and gas company CEPSA.
Ms Al Kuwaiti’s achievements within the sector were recognised in 2013 by the Emirates Women’s Awards, in which she won the Career Achievement Category.
She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Finance from Portobello College, Dublin, and she holds a Masters in International Business from the University of Wollongong, Dubai.
Saeed Al Mehairbi is currently holding the position of the Director of Projects Directorate at the International Petroleum Investment Company (IPIC).
With over 10 years of experience at ADNOC, Mr Al Mehairbi joined IPIC in 2007.
Through his extensive expertise and project successes, predominantly in the oil and gas industry, Mr Al Mehairbi holds a range of Board positions; in April 2015, he was appointed to the Board of Arabtec Holding PJSC after which he was appointed as Acting CEO in November 2015. Additionally, he is a Board Member of Emirates LNG, SUMED Egypt, IPIC Refining Holding, Abu Dhabi Pakistan Holding, and Duqm Refinery.
Mr Al Mehairbi holds a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Management from the Higher Colleges of Technology in Abu Dhabi, and a Master’s degree in Quality Management from Wollongong University in Dubai. He is also a certified Project Management Professional from the Project Management Institute, USA.
Sami Fakhoury is the General Counsel at IPIC, advising the company an all legal affairs and governance related matters. Additionally, he takes on the role of Board Secretary, in charge of ensuring all board matters are carried out efficiently and advising on the legal aspects of all projects and investments raised to the Board of Directors for approval.
With over 16 years of experience, Mr Fakhoury has served in senior and executive positions in international and regional law firms prior to joining the IPIC group. He started his international career in Paris at Gide Loyrette Nouel in 2001, where he was promoted to Partner and tasked in opening and managing the firm's Dubai office, then joined Al Tamimi & Company as Partner and head of the banking and finance practice of the firm's Doha office.
Mr Fakhoury has extensive experience in a wide range of corporate finance transactions, including leveraged buy-outs, mergers and debt financing transactions. He has represented both borrowers and lenders in large European cross-border transactions and acted for public and private companies in a number of debt restructurings.
He is a member of the Beirut Bar Association and holds a Master's degree in Law from Saint Joseph University in Beirut, as well as a Master's degree in Business law, Taxation and Management from INSEEC Business School in Paris. He is Fluent in English, French and Arabic.
Hamad Ali Al Ahbabi is the Acting Director of Business Support Department at IPIC. With over 15 years of experience, Mr. Al Ahbabi acts as IPIC’s principal spokesperson on corporate partnerships and sponsorships at press conferences and public events.
In his role, Mr. Al Ahbabi is responsible for many back-office functions at IPIC. These include, general services, which encompasses facilities management, security and deployment of IPIC branding on premises. His remit also covers the company’s communications department, which handles the company’s profile, including sponsorships, events, and media engagement. He is also responsible for the human resources department’s work, including on talent, compensation and benefits, as well as Information Technology across the company.
Prior to joining IPIC in 2011, Mr. Al Ahbabi was a manager at the Emirates Identity Authority at Al Mushrif Registration Centre where he managed and supervised all EIA registration centres in Abu Dhabi and the Western Region. Before that, he was a manager of Diagnostic and External Clinics at Tawam Hospital in Al Ain. Mr. Al Ahbabi also held the position of Documentation Specialist at National Data Technology Centre at ADNOC.
Mr. Al Ahbabi holds a Diploma in Computer Information Processing and a Completion Certificate in Computer Systems from Higher Colleges of Technology in Al Ain.
