EmiratesLNG is a 50:50 joint venture between IPIC and Mubadala Petroleum, a business unit of Mubadala, for the development of a new LNG regasification facility on the UAE’s east coast in the Emirate of Fujairah.
The ELNG Project is a strategic Government initiative to import additional gas supplies to meet energy demand from the UAE’s growing economy, especially in the northern emirates. The front-end engineering and design work for the project is underway. Phase 1 is expected to have a capacity of 600 million standard cubic feet per day (mmscf/day), with Phase 2 delivering an additional 600 mmscf/day capacity. The combined 1.2 billion scf/day of natural gas will be used primarily for power generation.
A new joint venture company called Emirates Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) LLC has been formed to implement the project.
